Phillip and Sandra Rhoads’ call to missions first took them as associates in missions to the Leeward Islands in 1986. The following year they received their missionary appointment to the Netherlands Antilles. After serving a term in Curacao, the Rhoads returned to the States. However, the burden for missions remained. They returned as associates in missions to the Netherlands Antilles in 1993, remaining there until 1996. He stated, “When we returned to the U.S. in 1996, I thought I was through with missions. However, it seems to be a recurring call on my life.” So, even though they were experiencing growth at Apostolic Temple in Aransas Pass, Texas, and had started a daughter work, Brother and Sister Rhoads answered the call and received their appointment as United Pentecostal Church missionaries to Suriname in September 2000. They arrived in Suriname on January 13, 2003. |
